We hope you will join us for this year's Art Festival. Last year’s Festival was a huge success, as we were able to give away over $2,200 in prize money – including a $1,000 cash prize to our Best in Show Artist, Tony Moore. We are happy to announce that we are surpassing that number this year and we will be giving away over $3,000 in cash prizes to our winning artists! Our winning artist categories are open to artists in every medium and include: Best In Show, 1st Place, 2nd Place, 3rd Place and Honorable Mention. We also have special "Friends of Winthrop Arts" prizes which are awarded by local organizations and art-loving individuals to their favorite displaying artists. We hope you will toss your hat into the ring by applying today!

We are again focusing on diversity and high quality artists, as we believe a broad spectrum of artists and mediums enhance the event. We are looking for 45 talented Artists and are open to any kind of artistic submissions, however we are focusing on the following 10 art forms:

- Ceramics
- Digital Arts
- Fabric
- Glass
- Mixed Media

- Painting - Abstract
- Painting  - Realism
- Photography
- Sculpture
- Wood

Please note that if you are applying as an Artist, you must meet all of our criteria, as outlined in the official rules and regulations (listed below and on our Eligibility, Rules & Regulations page). Most notably, your work must be original and created by you. Each piece must be unique (photographers may number a limited amount of prints) and we do not accept any work made with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, prefabricated forms, or commercial methods. If your work falls under any of these categories, please check out our Artisan Market page, as you may be eligible to sell your work alongside our Artists, as an Artisan.

Please be sure to read carefully, as our rules regarding Artists and Artisans have changed. The simple two-page Artist application can be found here. In addition to your completed application, we must also receive the $25.00 application fee. We now accept payments online!

Eligibility Information,
Policies and Release Agreement for

Eligibility Information: Artists

All work must be original and executed by the accepted Artist. Work produced with commercial kits, molds, patterns, plans, prefabricated forms or commercial methods are not eligible. If your work is produced using any of these methods, you are welcome to reapply as an Artisan. Please see for more information regarding the delineation between Artists and Artisans. By signing the 2017 Artist application, you affirm hands-on involvement in the creation and execution of each piece of work exhibited. 

Exhibited work must be consistent with the images submitted by the Artist and must follow Festival guidelines. Festival Management retains the right to remove any work from the exhibition. Reproductions are limited to one bin clearly marked. Reproductions may not be hung on the walls. Prints made from the Artist's original negative/digital file must be processed by the Artist or under the Artist's supervision. It is advised that photographers do only limited and numbered editions from each negative/digital file. Ceramic works must be handmade by the Artist; no machine-made work will be permitted. If multiple pieces of the same design are displayed, each must be signed. Paintings, graphics and photographs must be appropriately framed or matted, and must be displayed in a suitable portfolio or stand.

Policies: Artists

Electricity is not provided and generators are not permitted. Vehicle access will be provided to each exhibitor at set times starting at 3:00PM Friday. Using a dolly is permitted and encouraged. Artists must follow set-up and strike guidelines as provided by Festival Management upon acceptance into the Festival. Artists must remain with their exhibit throughout the entire Festival (volunteers are permitted to assist with breaks), and are not permitted to leave until their scheduled departure time. Winthrop Arts staff will have a limited number of volunteers onsite to assist with booth supervision during brief breaks. Artists must have booth dismantled and off of the property by 7:30PM on Sunday evening (2.5 hours after the show ends). Violators may be subject to fines. White tents measuring 10’ by 10’ are required for Artists and should be in good condition. Winthrop Arts does not provide or rent tents. Please see our website for suggested retailers. The Festival recommends you do not use inexpensive, pop-up tents, as they have the potential to be dangerous in high winds and inclement weather. Artists must provide tie downs, weights (such as sandbags) and any other sturdy equipment necessary to stabilize tents, displays and artwork in windy or rainy weather. Winthrop Arts recommends 25 pound weights per leg for the ideal stability. Staking is not possible or allowed. Festival Management reserves the right to remove any displays which are unsightly or in poor condition. Winthrop Arts does provide limited overnight security during the Festival weekend, however anything left in a booth overnight is at Artist's own risk. Festival Management and their agents affiliated with the event will not be responsible for artwork and displays left in booths overnight. 

Artists are responsible for any and all sales tax related to the sales of artwork at the Winthrop Arts Festival and Artisan Market. Winthrop Arts is not responsible for tracking or overseeing the sales tax due from the profits from any artworks sold.

By signing and submitting the 2017 Artist Application Form, you agree that you have read and understand the show rules and regulations and agree to abide by them

Release Agreement: Artists

The Artist agrees to and does hereby assume any and all risks of personal injuries to the Artist, including death and risk of damages to the Artist’s property and work, cause by or arising out of the Artist’s involvement in the Winthrop Arts Festival and Artisan Market.

The Artist herby agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Winthrop Arts, Inc. from and against any and all claims, demands, suits, damages, losses, liabilities, obligations, costs, expenses and judgments cause by the Artist’s acts or omissions or failure to abide by the rules of the Winthrop Arts Festival and Artisan Market arising out of the Artist’s involvement in the Festival.

If accepted, Winthrop Arts, Inc. has my permission to reproduce my artwork, through the images I have submitted, for the purpose of promoting, advertising and marketing the Festival. Winthrop Arts, Inc. has my permission to publish photographs or video taken of me, my booth and my work during the Festival for purposes related to promotions of the Festival, past or future.

Fees and Notification Information: Artists

Artists applications received between August 1, 2016 and January 31, 2017 will be accepted and considered. The non-refundable Artist Application Fee is $25.00 for applications received between August 1 and November 30, 2016. Applicants will be notified in writing (email) by December 15, 2016.

The non-refundable Artist Application Fee increases to
$50.00 for applications received between December 1, 2016 and January 31, 2017. Applicants will be notified on a rolling basis in writing (email) no later than February 15, 2017.

Please see the Artist Application Form for payment options. Applications received without an Application Fee will not be considered.

The non-refundable Artist Festival Fee for all accepted Artists is $100.00 and is due no later than March 1, 2017.

Refund Policy: Artists

The Artist understands that both the Application Fee and Festival Fee are non-refundable. If you are accepted in the Festival, you will be a sponsored Artist and must commit to participation. Based on your commitment, the Winthrop Arts Festival turns away other artists who would like to participate. In the event of a true emergency, please contact Winthrop Arts Management. 


If you have been accepted into the 2017 Winthrop Arts Festival & Artisan Market, congratulations! Please pay the $100 Artist Participation fee either through our website (see below) or by sending a check to Winthrop Arts, Inc. to P.O. Box 2638, Brandon, FL 33509. The fee is due no later than March 1, 2017. Thank you for your application and we can't wait to see you at the 2017 Winthrop Arts Festival & Artisan Market!
